235 65 17 a legal size in nsw to my understanding unless you start raising the van as well

Would you have some reference to confirm this? I do not see how this could be so, because the side wall hight difference between 235/65 and the factory 235/55 is 23mm, which is way more than the 7mm mentioned int he rules.

The tyres are VERY quiet... due to lockdown ...haven't driven the van for quite a while !!! so I'll report back when I'm able to go more than 10kms from home. I've done more kms on my new e-bike than in the van !!!!!
The original tyres (one brand new and four with about 150 kilometres on them) are for sale... $100 each, pickup in metro Melbourne.

hey mate, what you are referencing is the tyre diameter can not be more than 7% increase on the largest tyre diameter of the place card, not 7mm specifically

I thought that it is illegal to install tyre size that changes the wheel radius by more than 7mm? (not that I care, just trying to ascertain if I am understanding the rules correctly).

No you arent the rules state you may not increase or decrease the DIAMETER by certain amounts

Not sure if its still the same but used to be a larger tyre OR a lift but not both Happy to be corrected

That link says both are possible but must not exceed 75mm total lift ie:

50mm suspension lift plus 25mm tyre lift
Or
25mm suspension lift plus 50mm tyre lift

Can’t both be 50mm

I think this is the important bit :

Modifications to the ride height up to 75mm that incorporate a maximum change in the suspension of 50mm, and/or an increase in the diameter of the wheel and tyre combination of up to 50mm

Can someone confirm the standard raised king springs are 2 inch / 50mm?

Then the king springs, which another thread suggests work with factory shocks, as well as 235 65 17, which fit deflated in the spare wheel well, seems the cheapest legal path to go down, or up per se, and is what I've been planning to do. Maybe air suspension one day would be nice though if I can justify the cost.

Curious to know how these tyres are going.
I'm trying to find a better wearing tyre that the Yoyo that have given my less than 15000km.
Would appreciate your advice.

I reckon the best way to go is to increase tyre size to 60 profile, rather than the much larger 65 profile - ie 235/60/17
• fits in spare well inflated
• speedo is pretty much bang on accurate (over-reads just slightly).

Am currently running cooper AT’s in this size and they should last long time (especially compared to the Yokohama’s that I was using).
