Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Diff breathers

Hi, wondering if Seikel is the only supplier of extended diff breathers, and where to source it from? Could the cheaper ARB diff breather kit work, or not recommended? How tricky is the installation?

On another note, I can't figure out from the online EKTA the part number for the rear diff to CV output seals, can anyone help on this?

    Thanks! Sam

Usually, it's just some 1/4" air hose over a nipple of some sort terminated in a motorcycle fuel filter...

I did a search on your previous posts & found you own a T5.1. In the future, when you are after specific info don't forget
      to include your model no.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

I'm also keen on finding info on this too. My research hasn't lead my far either. I need to get under the car and find the actual breathers and see what they look like first I reckon.

Can just extend the existing and make your own. i went to install a generic kit of eBay but decided to go and make my own with larger diameter pipe as the kit was only 4mm. But all you need to do is pop off the rear diff and haldex breather hose caps and join your hose on and run up to engine bay and put some filters on the ends. The transfer case I'm looking at doing soon those were the easiest so did them when I had some spare time. I'll get some instructions to you if you wish?
