  • 2.5 Transporter NO HT !!

    Hi guy's,

Can you help with the :-

    NO IGN HT :-

Got a fault on my UK Spec 1996MYR 2.5 Eurovan Siemens 5WP4 240 eng ECU with VW pt no 023 906 024 t.

Have done the hall effect tests, result was got a +5v -0v square wave at ecu green white wire.

Got +12v to coil but get NO switching of the Green wire (tested continuity of wire to ECU ok.

Fitted new GND wire to pin 24 (1.5mm brown wire)found 4.5 ohms resistance btween wire and gnd with ecu m/plug disconnected and testing it to battery neg post..not sure of this wires function ??? any thoughts. The main heavy Brown GND wire to the ECU is ok ..goes to a stud next to the ECU. Coil GND wire is ok ..same gnd point.

Tested ..result was as before get a 1sec HT at plugs then nothing !!!

Do not have a full pin out of the ECU's I/O's can any one help?

The main IGN +12v input to the pin 23. ECU , has no voltage with the IGN ON !! any idea where in the fuse box the black/yellow ??? gets its feed from RELAY ETC ?????/ tested continuity of wire the from the fuse box white m/plug to the ECU conn is ok

IGN +12v is ok on PIN 8

I am trying to test the all the I/O's to the ECU before condeming the ecu !! found surface corrosion the ally housing but pins are clean and no sign of water ingress when took the casing off for inspection .

Sorry about the long post : )

Any tips or guidance on this would be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Derrick

Not sure of the significance of many of your measures but given the known long term unreliability of the VW ignition switch.......that'd be the first thing I'd consider.

...and then I'd take up Silver's suggestion about the coil.

        Hi Scott,

Tested coil off vehicle with a test box ..got good HT across 900rpm to 5000rpm range.

The drivers to the coil are in the ECU, just not sure of the pin outs to the ECU ?, have you got a Bentley wiring schematic for the ECU ?

        Thanks

        Derrick

Thanks, will test the sw output, but all the ign controlled fuses have +12volt ok and the wipers & indicators & heater blower mtr all function ok, !!

Where are you zola? update your location. THere may be someone round the corner with test gear.

Relay 167 in the bottom right of the fusebox controls the ecu.

I`d still try the coil first, they are notoriously bad.

Coil is ok (see post, i tested it off the vehicle)...thanks for the relay tip, will have a look tomorrow after work, (thurs eve).

btw i'm in the UK, could'nt see a way of changing location in profile ..bit of a newbie at this any tips?
