Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I'm interested in peeking at my 2007 build (2008 spec) 2.5 TDI Multivan.

Can anybody recommend a scanner? Bosch told me yesterday that their OBD 1110 model can't be used on the multivan, even though it's listed as a Transporter compatible device.

Obdeleven.com. buy one for $139 from AutoInstruct – The Home of Automotive Guides and Products and read the VCDS section forum all about what you can do with it an android phone

It may not have full functions on a Transporter though

I bought this VAG COM 17.1.3 HEX+CAN USB Interface Car Auto Fault Diagnosis Wire Diagnostic AG | eBay from ebay. I'm happy with it. Only downside is I need to use a windows laptop. I have a 2007 VW T5 Transporter 128kw AXE Auto.

        Thanks guys.

I'm getting the feeling that a scanner isn't warranted on a Multivan.

It depends what do you want to use it for.
The OBD eleven is a very good alternative to VCDS.

If you only want to read the codes and perhaps monitor the DPF as well, I found this one is very good for that. Just use VAG DPF app and for the codes Dash command app.

It is true the OBDeleven isn't as great with the Transporter as it is with other VAG models. I spent a week to-ing & fro-ing with Voltas (the company that developed it) to help with deactivating stop-start function to no avail. I have had more success with a couple of the other functions though, along with reading & clearing a couple of fault codes.
