Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VW T5 2011 4motion, which oil and filter

    Hey hey,

Im about to do an oil filter and oil change myself,

    2011 T5 4 CFCA Motor 2.0L twin turbo 4motion

Just wondering what oil everyone is using?

Is Penrite Enviro+ C3 5-30w okay to use?
    And
Ryco Z435 for the oil filter.

All purchased from Repco...causVW want to charge $489 just for oil and oil filter change

i think it's 507.00 spec oil you need, super cheap just had a special on Castrol 507.00

I think you also need a a one use crush washer for the oil plug.

Im still in warranty, so i haven't bothered to change my own oil.

One of the lads on here will confirm if im correct

Probably avoid the ryco & fork out for a genuine or a Mann filter I reckon.

This is the oil used from Repco .Used Ryco Z435. First oil change on this type of VW. Straight forward. Did not use crush washer , but normally do. Just get a few next time. No leaks. Used about 7 litres of oil .

I'd recommend Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 and as someone else said only genuine filters.

            Need VW spec 507.01
I’ve used Penrite and Castrol, around $10L on specials, Mahle and Man filters from hsy, your engine using oil ?

The Z435 is definitely wrong filter. As other suggested use genuine filter only and I’d be voiding eBay filters since they’re unknown quality. The risk is just not worth it.

Hi Transporter, without dpf is specific oil still as crucial for engine and turbo ?

It is, even for 2.0TDI. In case of 2.5TDI AXD and AXE engines, don’t even think about using anything than approved 506.01 oil.
