  • VW Crafter oil change info

Anyone know where i can find info on changing the engine oil on my crafter? Like oil quantities, filter location, part number etc. Want to change the oil between vw scheduled services in the book as i will be keeping this van for a long time. Keen to find info on gearbox, diff servicing etc too if its around.

So you have to pay for the info i gather?

Really only after oil/filter change info at this stage, leave the rest to a vw/garage workshop.

Oil filter is a cartridge unit (not a screw on)

Search for oil, fuel or air filters by part number : Air Filters, Oil Filters and Fuel Filters :: Ryco Filters :: Automotive Filters Australia around $20 each

        Oil quantity is 8.5 litres

One thing I totally dislike about these vans is the scheduled oil change is 30,000km (or 1 year which isn't to bad) I've seen a Hyundai Getz that missed a service for 27K and the motor was sludged up.

I had the low oil level light in mine come on at 41'000kms last week, after its 1st service at 30'000km.

I had to put 4L of oil in in to bring it up to the full mark!?

Thats a lot of oil.....I have my doubts they even changed the oil at its 1st service.........

Yeah I must drop past the dealer with it.

Its not leaking, blows no more smoke than normal, so.......?

Im pretty sure there workshop is full of Filipino mechanics....and I think I remember them saying the most experienced was a 2nd year apprentice!?

So 4L of oil use in 41000kms could be believable, 4L in 11000kms somewhat less so.

Yeah 30k doesnt seem right. I realise they take about 9 litres of oil which is a fair bit for that size engine so im sure it lasts a bit longer than normal... but still 30k is a long time. They put the wrong sticker on my crafter saying it was due at 20k, so i did an oil change at 10k myself. Rang to book it in for its 20k book service and they said they stuffed up and the sticker should have said 30k... so i think i will do an intermediate one at every 15k now.
