Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Fuel Filter Replacement.

    Hi Fello Crafties.

Just on 50k here and many of those are Dusty Dirty Outback Oz miles, I'm going to change the Fuel Filter.

Has anyone carried out this procedure on their 2021 410.... ?

Generally speaking a flick of the key on most Diesel engines starts the tank pump, which fills the new filter with fuel, then its re-connect the outlet hose and Bobs your Uncle.

I have heard mention somewhere, that a Scan tool is needed for Fuel Filter replacement on this model....!

Can anyone verify or lay to rest that claim..?

    Much appreciation.

    Steve.

Scantool would be better than flicking the key and cranking for ages.

No, once the igntion is turned on, one flick of the key activates the in tank pump, filling the new, empty fuel filter, when fuel flows out of the outlet, ignition off, re-connect hose. This is how I've replaced many Common Rail Diesel filters. I have never replaced one on a 2021 Crafter. No need to crank the engine, in fact that would potentially introduce air into the High pressure system.
