Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • aftermarket gps for my caddy?

whats the best aftermarket gps or one you recommend.

I know there's a few to choose from on e-bay.

I have the waywell WD6050 in my R32 which I installed a while ago, and it's done me alright.

I remember a few people having issues with the radios draining their batteries..?

at the moment.. considering this one... any thoughts?

not sure if i like these units that you linked. they just look like cheap china copies. the fact that you buy that unit and you only get "LOADED WITH Ozi Explorer with all 512 Geoscience Topographical maps demo mode" is just stupid. anyways you can make any head unit work in vag cars, just need to get few extra bits to make them work properly and not drain battery.

Do you own an iPhone or iPad Mini?
      They are excellent GPS devices.
I use my iPad Mini with the TomTom App.

You can buy a VW RNS 510 that FULLY integrates for $1180 if you look in the audiosection.

You can also read about all the problems people are having trying to get other makes to work properly.

In particular some very unhappy ZENEC owners.

        Be warned

A $200 Tomtom is the best I have used for the last 5 years. Not built in but works faithfully all the time and has up to date maps every 3 months

I ended up with this one.

Wholesale Product Snapshot Product name is Dual Core 1080P Car DVD GPS for VW Golf 5 6 Polo Passat CC Jetta Tiguan Touran Sharan Eos amarok Transporter T5 seat 3G WIFI

          It's perfect.

The screen is actually quite amazing as it's so clear and detailed, and is quick going through the menus etc.

GPS works perfect, no issues as yet.
Bluetooth works just fine with an external mic that I installed.

I'd definitely recommend it to everyone.
