  • Caddy AC compressor

    Hi all,

I have been told by the mechanic that the compressor has ceased and cannot be sure of the extent of damage until he takes it of the car. He has quoted me $1800-$2400.

I find it quite steep; I believe compressor is about $800 new.
    What you guys think?

Also does anyone have or know where i can download the service manual. As it is degassed I may replace it myself and save myself $1k!!

Caddy is a 05 1.9 TDI with 180K on it.

Any advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Steve

Hey Steve, we had 2 VWs with dead compressors. Both times they've had to change other valves and lines as well because it sent rubbish through the AC system, so it's possible that it's not just the compressor. Good luck!
