Purchasing new and discount for TSI 160 Caddy

I am in the process of getting quotes for a new TSI160 caddy.

There is a current "run out" deal for $21990 with free on roads. With Cargo Barrier and floor mat I've been quoted just under $23k.

Just wanted to ask if you think they could better this price or am I already getting a good deal?

i would go with TDI instead. i got the previous model caddy with petrol 1.6l engine and its weak as. specially if you're planning to load up your caddy with tools and what not. not too sure about the new 1.2l turbo engines but i'd assume they are pretty much alike. my next caddy will def be a TDI

A lot of folk have been pushing me toward the diesel, however I am not going to be pulling heavy loads in the Caddy, just big items that are cumbersome to get into a car/wagon.

However, I've heard resale value is higher on the diesel models. Hard to know what's going to happen in five years though.

even without a load sometimes i have to turn the air con off to get up a hill. i know its not a race car but could do with more torque. before you make up your mind make sure you take both for a test drive, find a nice hill to drive up and see how they both perform. diesel is also cheaper to run. i get 450-500km out of a tank of 98, i hear diesels do quiet a bit more.

I was also going to suggest a diesel for a number of reasons.

There is the economy and the much better low down torque. Then there is the greater stability of the fuel price.

One downside is that diesel does not evaporate like petrol, so if there is a weep on the fuel bowser hose or someone has tried to overfill the tank and ends up with diesel on the nozzle trigger, you get that on your hands when you next fill up, and the smell hangs on for ages.

A simple solution is to get a box of disposable rubber gloves (around $3 for 25 pairs) from the supermarket and put on a pair before refuelling. The best place to carry the box of gloves is in the "glove compartment" (could not resist)

Hi, I just ordered a metallic Caddy 160TSI with factory cruise and factory rubber mat in the cargo area. Paid $22,678.00 drive away in QLD. We are a small business but applied for fleet assistance.
I prefer diesel (have a Golf 6 103TDI Sport Pack) but was not prepared to pay the huge premium for diesel.
I was impressed with the 1.2 performance and it's flat 1500-3500 torque curve and turbo lag was not evident (maybe more with heavy loads).
The 160 TSI is clearly priced very well at an entry point and looks by far the best value for a good quality commercial.

Great! I ordered my Caddy the other day too. I ended up settling with the TSI160, which I was able to test drive and found it quite good for my needs.

I was able to get it down to $22,500 with Factory Cruise, Rubber Mat and Cargo Barrier. No metallic paint though!
