Made it home this morning, well, work actually.
Rear shockers are not compatible with the rear leafs. It was like a pogo stick on the highway, glad I didnt have boobs as my nipples were bouncing and I swear my backside left the seat a few times on the bumps!!
Regoed now and pics will follow.

No shock control huh? The KW dampers in my van have adjustable rebound on the rear, so you can stop that quite easily. I actually need to take an increment or two out of it to get to to pitch a bit more.
What shocks are you going to get to fix the problem? Or are you going to get the ones in the van re valved?
Its got KW coilovers to suit a Touran in the front and will get it on the hoist later this week as its due for the 22,500 service. I am not sure what brand of rear shocks it has yet.
The rear leafs have been reset and the axle hasnt been flipped. One thing I did notice is that the rear bump stops look very original so it may even be bottoming out. I would think of getting my old favourites, Konis, although I am not 100% happy with the Koni kit that I fitted to the GTI. Also trying to get info about spring rates from the local supplier was fruitless...
I will check the suspension later in the week.
By the way, the local dealers were checking it out through their window today while I was picking up parts!!! (their loss!!!)

Whoa! Awesome pick up there Andrew, glad to see your finaly in your caddy mate. Things always play out for the good guys in the end and it looks like you got a blessing in disguise. Awesome Caddy! It's everything preeny should be doing to his that he hasn't yet done haha.

Hey Andrew... congrats on the Caddy purchase.... she's a beauty! i hear that the guy you bought it off is a pretty good bloke too
Glad to see you made back OK. The coilovers in the front are H & R and the rear shock is just the standard item. I remember that the original bump stops were cut fractionally to stop it bottoming out.
My garage is not the same without that bright orange thing greeting me in the morning.... so i was thinking.... can i have it back????
Thanks Neil, I cant tell you how happy I am to get Vinces Caddy, it sure turns heads and each time I pull up anywhere people want to ask me about it.
Vince, mate, it was great dealing with you and getting the Cad, you sure kept it clean!! Washed the bugs off it yesterday and before I take some pics of it beside the GTI, I had better wash that first!! It looks filthy compared to the van.
By the way fellas, Vince also has his Mk5 GTI on carsales if anyoine wants a superclean lowered one. I will try and post a link later in the ebay/carsales section.
Cheers, Andrew
shattered I missed you when you came through town the other day mate, would have been tops to see this again
get some KW V2's like Preeny, that thing rides like a champion!
VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it

They're V1's. The only difference between V1's and V2's is adjustable front rebound. You don't really need to play around with the front as it's pretty sweet as is.
Couple of pics that I took on the way home and home with Tassie rego.
Hmmm, must be careful, this was taken in Pennant Hills, mind you, when the GTI was there in late may it was even closer!!
