  • Fuel Pump needs replacing

    Hi All,

I have a 2005 Caddy Van and 3 days ago, according to the VW dealer, the fuel pump was damaged and needs replacing.

They have advised me that the fit and replace a new fuel pump will cost me $795. Unfortunately the 3 year warranty ended in October this year so that's not an option.

    Could anybody out there advise............

    1) How much are fuel pumps going for these days?
    2) Do you guys think that I get it replaced cheaper? If so, where in Melbourne?

I would really appreciate any advice and suggestions.

    Cheers,

Relocate the fuel tank to the roof then you wont need a pump.

That price doesn't sound TOO bad... Considering the fuel pump would be worth a pretty penny. Hopefully Tim (Golfworx) or Jaymac or one of the other whizz VW mechanics can chime in and give you a better idea, though.

You could try Volkspower to get a second opinion and price.

errrm, your dealer should complete a PWA and submit it to VWA, they may still pay partially or completely.

My dealer did this for my broken air con, even though I'd done 110,000km at the time.
