Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Considering a 2009 Maxi

    G’day Caddy group,

I’m going to purchase a Caddy and am looking at options here in Perth/Freo. I’ve seen a 2009 Maxi and want to know if its possible to install the rear bench seat in this van, after I remove the cargo barrier and plan to relocate it behind the seat.

I’ve been sent some details that it’s a 75kw SG5 2KH AC2. Any guidance as to this vehicle?

    Thanks in advance.

Nice choice. To be able to fit the VW OEM 3rd row bench seat the vehicle will need to have the seat attachment rails on the floor. The seat slides onto them and locks in place over the lugs. You can see the grey rails that run front to back in this picture.

The vehicle will also need to have the retractable seat belts which you can also see in the picture.

I believe that all the facelifted 2010+ Caddy Maxi Life came with the 3rd row bench seat as standard, not sure about the pre-facelife Caddy Maxi Life.
1997 Golf CL, 2011 Caddy Life TDI, 2007 Golf TDI, 1996 Vento GL (red), 2008 Skoda Octavia TDI
1996 Vento GL (white) - RIP

Thanks for the feedback. The picture is really helpful. I've found a seat at a wreckers nearby so we're looking good in that respect. Do you know how tightly the bolts should be torqued to the floor?

      Cheers.

No idea how much torque for the bolts to secure the rails to the floor.

You could try a VW dealer's service/spare parts department. I believe the latest Caddy 4 (well 3.5 because it is really just another facelift) uses the same system for the rear 3rd row bench seat. The service/spare parts department should have instruction on how to install them because they are still an optional extra for the base model SWB Caddy Life.
