Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Power steering fault - relevant TPI

My mum's Polo (MY19 TSI85) flashed error few times on the screen showing red car silhouette. When taken to a dealer they "Ran GFF" and found fault logged for Power Steering. The advice was "Found a relevant TPI- Advised to postpone repair till software available"

Does anyone know what that means?
What is the relevant TPI and when is the fix likely to be?

    This?

Why not ring the dealer and ask?

I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums

thanks for the info. I'll call dealer on Monday and ask about this and if they confirm I'll ask why it wasn't updated if its a known issue with known resolution. Wish I was in sydney and I could scan the car with VCDS and see if its applicable.

Called VW Liverpool. Apparently request for TPI was generated and they are waiting for the resolution to be provided (which then generates TPI number).... and I was advised to "please call back next month to see how that is progressing".
