  • General oil question

Me again. I had the Polo serviced yesterday and they put 10-40 semi synthetic oil in. I have only ever used 5w-40 full synthetic oil before yesterday because that's what they previously used.

Is it OK to mix the synthetic oil with the semi synthetic? And can I use a 505.00 spec oil in an engine that uses 502.00 spec?

    Thanks everyone.

    Yes.

No. If the engine requires 502.00, then you must use 502.00 oil - however, the engine in your Polo originally called for 501.01 or 502.00.

501.01 is an older specification which is usually combined with 505.00, so it means you can use stand-alone 505.00 oils for vehicles that also call for 501.01 oils (such as the engine in your Polo).

But personally, a 502.00/505.00 oil would give me more piece of mind for 15 000 km service intervals.

Most recommendations that I have seen for the AEE In the 6n1 lists 10/40 which I put in all my 6n1's and don't have an issue. HX7 10W40 on special at Supercheap for $23 Is always a good deal
My Car(s): 2011 6R TSI Comfortline (Pepper Silver),
If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)
