Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Wtb: 98 GTI front hub carriers.

Hey ppl, chasing a set of front hub carriers for a 6N 98 GTI polo. Can get them x Germany but don't want to wait that long nor pay for brand new genuine carriers. Anyone got any lying around in Australia or know of somewhere I can get them aftermarket? Cheers.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the 6N GTI made it very far out of Germany - i.e. their definitely weren't any in Aus, and I can't remember ever seeing one in the UK. I had to google image it to see if it ever existed at all. The 6N2 on the other hand - these are all over the place in europe, you could easily find the part your after and if the seller's quick enough, you'll have it here within a week. My advice is look here - breaking polo gti | eBay

I promise you, you won't find any of these in Australia without ordering through your dealership for $$$.

Ok cheers, thought as much but had to give it a shot.
Doing a 20v 1.8 conversion and having issues with hub carriers and drive shafts lining up. Motor not in position yet as can't seem to get right angle for shafts and I don't think I can get motor further back without getting rough with the firewall.

Use mk3 GL Golf ones,VR6 caliper carrier and Toledo 16v discs for 280 mm brakes.Piece of cake.Fit the 100mm inner to the Polo d/s.
Not much room in a 6n engine bay.Good luck.
