the thing i've noticed about a of of these done up Polo o/seas is that they are not GTI's. it puzzles me why they save so much money to get a cheaper version, only to spend a bucket load on doing them up. in saying this though, majority of cars in europe are diesel.....so this may be the reason.

Current fuel prices in Germany petrol = $2.45/ litre, that could explain it!
Interestingly diesel about the same price.
FWIW, those cars don't look the goods to me.

yeah i've noticed that but i'm talking about a lot of the worked Polo's i've seen from o'seas have the chrome headlights (not the black GTI ones). but as you said, not sure why you'd remove the red stripe and GTI badge . it's what differentiates the GTI from the rest.

as my friend puts it (shes a girl not into cars, so for her to notice something is surprising) it looks like lipstick. i tend to agree with her. maybe some others share the same sentiment?
