  • ticking noise after turning off engine

hi guys just a quick question here

i recently noticed that in my polo gti, after i turn off the engine and remove the keys from the ignition, when i go outside i can hear a small ticking noise coming from the engine. (im guessing the turbo?)

    is this normal?

    thanks guys!

its just all the hot parts cooling down (shrinking) but its nothing to worry about its normal.

yep, normal. most (if not all) cars do that.

Perfectly normal ... and if you've been pushing it (within the legal limits ... obviously ), you'll hear the water pump continue to run for a while to help cool down the turbo-heated areas of the engine.

It's just the water pump.. Mine makes a funky electrical squeeling/buzzing noise sometimes too if I'm lucky...

Have had it to VW and they can't seem to pinpoint what it is.. I thinks its a funny bearing in the waterpump

Yea I get this as well....

It almost like an electric buzz... comin from the engine bay, front left (when your facing the car with the bonnet open) area...
I just assumed it was something to do with coolin...
It goes on for a minute or so afta the car is switched off...

those buzzing noise should be the electric motor running to pump oil through the system to cool...

WTF?? Er valves can't keep running after you shut off the engine.....

That's the electric water pump, not oil....

As soon as the crank stops, the valve train stops... Hahahaha...if it was the valves still running, that ticking sound would be the valves bouncing off the crown of the pistons...And that ain't normal!!!

too hot, valve got stuck, then the friction eventually loose and can not hold the valve, it pops back and u got d noise..
