  • Windscreen cracked

Driving on the motorway this morning, a rock (golf ball size) flies to my windscreen...

Only had the car for 2 weeks and now with a cracked windscreen....

    Heart breaking....

Anyone have an idea roughly how much is it going to cost to replace a genuine windscreen?

At least it didn't hit the paint.

You might have a windscreen replacement in your insurance policy?

Got quote from different dealer, the windscreen itself is between 340-375.

Strange enough, different dealer sell spare parts in different price...

        Labour also vary from 220-400.

And one of the dealer told me that they are not fixing it themself, they are getting other ppl to fix it for me....

Also quoted 348 all up for replacement of a generic windscreen. And it cost 109 to fix, if it can be fix....

LOL between $300-$350 fitted, why you would want to get a original one from the dealer is beside me when actual windscreen places will do you a better job for half the price and also give you warranty on top of it

what windscreen you put in will not affect your warranty and believe it or not theres not cameras in your polo beaming video back to VW HQ in germany

that sucks though, you should be able to get windscreen insurance for about 50$ and when you claim it you dont pay an excess. thats what i have from NRMA anyway.

Same thing happened to me. Got a quote from national windscreens for $185.00. They were the cheapest by far. Haven't had it fixed yet but will use them.

..Better job you reckon? When replacing my windscreen, one of the fitters from a windscreen company with an Irish name scratched the duco all around my windsreen surround in my Polo, needed repair and then re-spray afterwards. They also use Chinese knock-offs, not original windscreens. In future, I'll get an original screen from a dealer and then locate a competent fitter experienced in euro cars.

ha ha ha ...the irony? It was taken to one of their specialist fitting centres and fitted by their 'senior' fitter (who was also their national fitting trainer).
