I've noticed that everyone in the passenger seat that tries to close it almost breaks it. I've never had a problem closing it in the drivers seat. Sounds crazy, if it still doesn't work then take it back to the dealer.

push the white button on the bottom right (just behind the panel that's supposed to sit flush with the dash). Should pop out ready to be pushed in again.

Ring them, tell them the cup holder is stuffed and to order a new one. Then when it's in take the car in and the switch shouldn't take long.

Glad I found this thread. My cup holder won't open. Ben, if you're reading this, I remember just touching yours and 'voila!', it opened. Mine seems stuck. Manual says theres this white button, for the life of me, I can't even see it!

i think that "white" button is the one located on the end of that rail which the cupholder slides on

it's tricky- the outer flaps go on the inside, and the inner flaps go outside of the outer flaps.

just as long as when you're closing it, you ensure that you push the outer flaps toward the inner flaps and get both outer flaps on the inside of the inner flaps/ conversely, when the outer flaps approach the inner flaps, get the inner flaps to go on the outside of the outer flaps which go in between the inner flaps, then you'll be right.

get a small flat head screwdriver and put it on the right hand side of the black part of the cupholder inside the dash and push the handle towards the cd player... should sorta pop out..?
