  • Air conditioning does not work well in polo 9n 2005

    My one is 2005 model.
(I do not know how to fix the title)
The air condition was working good when the weather outside is okay. But if the weather is so hot, then it cannot work efficient.

I just purchased this used car from dealer a few days ago. Im not sure that is normal problem or not? How much will it cost if I want to fix it?

I find out that a lot of people said BMS darlinghurst is good. Are they good in fixing air condition?

If it's a 2015 model it's under Warranty. Take it to a VW dealer.

I fixed the title for you.

Seriously speak with the dealer, you probably have some statutory warranty, differs by state. Dunno where you are located.
If you don't get a good response then call your state motoring club, RACQ / RACV etc, to get some proper advice.

            AC is not cheap.
The fan should be on whenever the ac is operating, if not temps will rise and the pressure switch will deactivate the compressor, or the compressor may **** itself (or already has).
A new fan might only cost $100.

Next would the the compressor, maybe it is dying.
A compressor is anywhere from $350 and up (VW will quote like $700-$900),
Regas costs about $200 depending on how much gas is needed to top up.
Labour to replace the compressor would be $300-500.

So you could be looking at a $1000+ easily, or around $600 if you DIY (still need the regas)

              Wow!!! Sounds so scary!

              I live in Sydney NSW
According to NSW rule from website, the car is older than 10years, so dealer has no responsibility to give me warranty. Also ask me to sign it.

They give me 3 years warranty which is including ac parts (compressor, evaporator and condensor, no regas) $1000 Grand. No limit to the number of claims

I can return the car but refund will deduct $1000. I do love this car which is so cute!

I know a cheaper mechanic guy to help me fix my Toyota compressor before, just cost me 350 in total. Im wondering should I find out a mechanic guy who is major in european car? Looks like they are more expensive.

It could be any number of things with the description provided. The "heater/cooler" switch has been known to play silly buggers. By that I mean, my air con is cold but when I change the temp setting it can turn off the air con. I can turn the AC on and Off a few times and it's all working fine again - so I don't change the temp anymore and it's no problem It's not the button on the dash, but a solenoid elsewhere in the system.

The good thing is that you can run a scan on the car and tell you if that's the case and diagnose a few things that way. A mechanic should be able to scan your car. If a scan shows nothing, it's more likely to be a mechanical fault than electrical.

If you have the warranty, it may all be sweet, go back through that. They should diagnose for free, if they try hit you for the cost you can make a judgment call or escalate through warranty. My wife's car had an air con issue which was all sorted under the used car extended warranty, that was a $1500 "as factory" warranty. Money well spent so far.

I check with the warranty company-National Warranty Company. They refer me to see their authorised mechanic which is not european specialist. Is that okay?

What is the different between european specialist and non-euro specialist?

You'll be fine... whilst it's a warranty job just take it to their mechanic.

A lot of mechanics don't do AC anyway and will simply have a mobile guy come in, or drive it around the corner to a local shop etc
Take it to the dealer's shop and see what they have to say, then take your time to make a decision.

Not likely, would only take 5min to do a basic check of fan & compressor operation and a pressure test.
I've had mobile ac guys come and diagnose and quote for nothing.

Wow would you like to give me that mobile guys' contact details?

Btw I just realised that my ac can work super good and cold when the weather is cooler in the night. Does it normal work bad in a super hot day?
