Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Article: Next gen Polo (2009)

    From world car fans

The new PQ25 platform from Volkswagen has already allowed two new vehicles to appear, the new generations of Skoda Fabia and, more recently, Seat Ibiza. Audi will also use it for its A1, based on the Metroproject Quattro Concept, but one of the main products this base will serve is doubtlessly the new Polo. Expected to arrive next year, it may be presented at the Geneva Motor Show or at IAA, in Frankfurt, but the Swiss city is more prone to be honoured with this compact car premiere. Whatever the waiting period will be, our friends at Infomotori.com have already uncovered the new vehicle with these nice renderings. Besides the images that illustrate this article, they have made many other colour variations that are worth taking a look at.

These Polo renderings confirm the information we already had about the car. It gets styling cues from Scirocco and up!, the future Lupo. As we have said, Polo will use the PQ25 platform, nothing else than an evolution of the platform used by the nowadays Polo, Fox and Gol, in Brazil, the PQ24.

The new car will very likely present the same engines that are being adopted in the rest of Volkswagen’s range, such as the 1,4-litre TFSI, which may be in many versions of the car, including the GTI. Besides this engine, it will also feature the new 1.6-litre TDI. Both engines will probably be mated with the new seven-speed DSG gearbox, offered as an optional for the newly introduced Ibiza. Besides Europe, some other countries, such as Brazil and China, will also have the right to produce the car. Announcements will soon be heard all over the word.

It looks like a sirocco wagon.

I don't like it at all, not the same car.

Let's hope there is an S1 version of the Audi.

You know those times when you've just bought something and then find out the next day that it's just been replaced by something better?

This isn't one of those times.

I'm still waiting to pick up my 08 GTI, but I'm glad I'm getting this model. Looks so much better than this VW Astra.

                  japanese car anyone...?

it just doesn't have the unique styling cues of the current Polo GTI. chances are it will look nothing like this and i damn well hope not. VAG is known for funky modern styling cues and this is far from that.

I defiantly like the inside. But the front is a big let down, i suppose the back will grow on me.... just doesn't seem as aggressive. still not as soft looking as a mazda 2 from the back.

I'm sure by the time the GTI version is released ... it'll look VERY different from that. If not ... then VW is going in the WRONG direction IMHO.

but on the good side. it'll help our model keep its value! =D

the proportions of the car are girly. very similar to the new mazda 2/ ford fiesta

but i think the biggest question is... how tunable are TSI engines? and are they too complex/expensive to mod?

The front is pure ugly, back is much better. Overall its lines are not agressive enough but i can picture it with two doors and a nice body kit and big wheels. It would look very similar to the scirocco. But from first impression im quite comfortable about my soon to be arriving 08 polo. Also I can't wait for the Audi A1 to come out and hopefully see if there will be a nice S3.
