Valet mode does a lot more than that. Having used it ... I can tell you the engine will NOT rev over about 2,500 rpm and is so lacking power, I could not even drive it up the gradient of my driveway without stalling.

Valet Mode (Locks speed & rev limits car)
    stock
    95 Ron
    98 Ron
    104 Ron (Race gas)
    Anti theft (immobilises the car)
Security (does not allow program switching without a PIN Number first)

You can add any of these as options at any time, and you switch between them all with your cruise control lever - no extra devices required, no flash counter change etc etc.

We can "bench flash" MKIV's & any PSOP memory type ME5 ecu's, but seeming the ECU has to come out of the car (and all MKIV's ran out of factory warranty some time ago) - what we do is install an APR EMCS module with 6 times the memory of the standard chip & has an onboard processor.

They are hard soldered, not socketed, as sockets can come loose.

Most tuners fit a socket and a chip to do MK4s but Custom-Code have the hardware to flash the ECU with a bench lead.

    No, not OBDI vehicles...

True Gavin I realised after I said it but I thought you could actual flash some ECUs.

Nice to see that they can be bench flashed

Yeah, that information is outdated, from when the original tune for the 1.8T engine was released (a long time ago).

I can assure you it's not soldered. I've watched Alex do it.

This is what i found on a apr site i looked up :[EMCS is available for this car.

EMCS consists of three important parts that work together as a cohesive unit: the EMCS module (which is soldered to the engine computer board), the EMCS on-board software (the software that is on the module), and the support software that is used to program and reprogram the module.]

I got this off apr web site .Sounded like a soldered in type .

used to have a 04 forester and mrt just re flashed it did not solder anything.can you do this with the gti polo?
It's been a while since chipping was done with chips. Laptops and cables are all you need these days.

Hey mate, i dont think any polo ecu upgrades are a physical chips, they are all reflashes through the obd2 port
