VW never made anything like this for the polo anywhere in the world - so they are definitely aftermarket ones but im sure it wont affect too much of your warranty cos its mostly a cosmetic enhancement ...... its not like you replaced your turbo with a bigger one from the imprezza wrx sti or something like that

so hence they are primarily to make your car look good without changing too much of the functionality ie they wont be blocking factory intercoolers or radiators etc

BTW they havent replied to my e-mail yet - so if anyone else gets a reply - please tell me which of their various e-mails you used - maybe i should forward my query to all their e-mail addy's but i am gonna be patient and wait a couple of days yet

Yes, they appear to be VW genuine as they had the VW logos and part numbers on them.
what are the VW part numbers - i will get my VW dealer to find out if he can source a real VW part like this and fit it for me - but ive never seen this as a factory option anywhere where polo's are made

but you wont find them in south africa itself - unless you get an entire caractere front bumper with the extended grilles (different size to standard bumper but those have honeycomb grilles - i have been quoted 4000 rand last year for that and its around 14000 for the entire caractere kit fitted)

so if you really want them then only solution is to see if ADAM does another group buy for australia and jump onto that - or import yourself from hong kong

so am i - though i have now forwarded my query to all their e-mails - but they havent replied yet

heres a pic of the one for $20 - this one is the anthracite one which matches the GTI interior - there is a black one for $10 but they charge an extra $10 for shipping on that one - so i suspect its the same price

im sure though it can be recovered to match anything you need it to

I also came across some ashtray covers and for the sides of the steering in the gunmetal colour if you come across them would be nice...
well let these guys reply - we can see if they do and then take it from there as to which items we can order from them

they have gotten back to me - im gonna have to save up a bit for these items cos for the two items costing (US)$170 they want $370 including shipping to south africa from hong kong - which means a whopping $200 total for shipping only

which makes it above double its original cost so i have to really consider if i want to go ahead - will ask them what happens if we do some type of group buy ie if we order a couple of these - and does that increase the shipping rate exponentially or does it increase at a decreasing rate so that we south africans can all get away with maybe $100 each for shipping instead of $200 each

the australian guys may get it cheaper cos you are closer to hong kong than we are - so i reckon it wont cost as much for you guys

                • I'm in for the center section.

Any chance of Dave or Tim rounding these up? Looks like there is a few interested parties...

Sorry guys, I'm not going to go ahead with organising this group buy as the Hong Kong guys have been slack with answering my emails and there doesn't seem to be enough interest in it not to mention the variations with the orders i.e. centre part only or sides only or full kit etc and the high cost of these parts.

I lost patience and was worried with breaking them too when I was removing the bumper to install the FMIC a while back so got my lil bro to do it. Aparently he managed to get them out without breaking them and it does take a fair bit of force to do so. Just have to really pry out the middle section in order to pull it out. My advise would be to sweet talk it, and then swear at it, then take a short break and take a big breath and try the whole process again until you get the damn sucker out. Then, only after you've won over the first one, you can then go onto the 2nd, third and last one
Removing those suckers is kinda like begging the wife for some action in bed or to let you buy your dream car. LOL

apparently there push in clips , you can use a flat tip screw driver to remove them heres the forge fmic install. it gives a pici for you to see.

                              • Hey guys, does anybody know or have access to the part number for the lower honey comb grills? If they are genuine VW parts, then I might be able to source them. I just need the par numbers in order to see is my supplier can get them and if they're available.

Would be great for myself and anyone else who was and still is interested if I can somehow source these grills. The nice look of these things have bugged me from the first day that I saw them but the price was just too steep to justify it plus the shipping.

                                Thanks in advance.
