85% of VW and most marquee dealership mechanics are 2nd or 3rd year apprentices, it keeps costs down..
. Mostly you get things like over torqued oil filters etc, but when they go for big repairs they make big mistakes, like we have here.

      The Update

Well a fair amount of time has passed since my first post on this topic. I now have an update and closure of some sort.

Still to this day DENLO GROUP PARRAMATTA has not accepted liability for the fire and after doing everything I could without legal action I was forced to make a claim through my insurer to get things going, if I hadnt my car would still be sitting at Denlo.

After about 4 weeks I had a call from Denlo's public liability assessor and he mentioned that it would take another 4-6 weeks to get a fire assessor to look at the car and determine the cause.

I couldnt afford to wait this amount of time without a car so I made a claim with AAMI and upon picking up the car they wrote it off as a total loss on the spot.

AAMI's assessor stated in his report that the fire looked to start around the battery / engine area maybe due to a fuel leak but could not confirm an exact cause.

AAMI were great and I was paid my agreed value within two weeks and now AAMI will chase Denlo for the costs.

I now have a black Polo GTI which I bought privately. Its great owning a Polo again but unfortunately this fiasco has cost me personally close to $3,000.

      Peace Out

      Colin

Well mate, it is both good news that you are back a Polo GTI and that AAMI was so supportive of you, but bad news that it has cost you so much. I really hope that you get back what you are owed(if it is at all possible), and that it is rectified to the best it can be.
What do you think is going to happen with proceedings from here??

Well, you've chosen the best colour this time

          Also, I hope that's $3,000, not $30,000.

Glad it pretty much worked out, AAMI are always great, people often put them down about their repairers in some areas, but I've never had an issue, and that's the repairer's fault most of the time.

Good to see that you can shame their name since they've accepted no responsibility. Not that their name is very good around here anyway.

There isnt really much I can do to recoup my $3,000 - however Im gonna to write a letter to VW Germany just to show my disgust as to how its brand is being represented in Australia

The best colour hehe not to sure. I really did want a red one again however there were none for sale in NSW when I wanted one.

Sorry to hear all the things u have been thru. But at least its all sorted. Very disgust to the dealer that treated u badly. I drive a vw and feel kinda sad to see reports that shown service after sale from vw is not in the top ten... But very happy to see u back in a polo... lmao

I find it disgusting that Denlo won't take the blame.

Good to hear you're back on the road.

Sorry to hear of your dilemma and as usual the guilty party has managed to weasel their way out, I would think that the name and shame you have done on here will (with your fellow VWWatercooled member's support) hit the dealer hard and hopefully they will end up much more out of pocket than yourself in the long run

Best to put it all behind you now and chalk it up as yet another of life's learning experiences.

Koz - as soon as you mentioned a western sydney dealer, I was certain it was Denlo. I haven't had issues with them nearly as serious as yours, but in general I have been unimpressed with their professionalism and issue resolution, and will refuse to take the car back to them especially with your story, despite being by far the most convenient of all dealers for me.

Hopefully in this situation the mods can keep the name and shame here for all to see.

                      • I see no issue with this post as the facts are clearly stated. It's a consumers choice on who they do business with and I think the Denlo group have been portrayed fairly.

                          • I'm gonna be scouting Partlocator once this car is sold to a wreckers (and hopefully not a private buyer). I want the steering wheel and the seats out of it!
