Good morning everyone !
Just thought i would share my sunday with you.
I used to own a fiesta and im still part of their forum.
I was invited along to a cruise yesterday which involved
me driving to Thornleigh (spellng?).
One of my customers and indeed now friend came along in his new
Swift Sport.
We met up with two XR4's, One Zetec fiesta, one focus, another swift sport apart from my friends red one ( chamption yellow, black 17's, tint, exhaust etc - was a cool car) and also a black ralliart colt.
Lovely bunch of people too.
We travelled through Berowra waters (we were stuck behind a damn 4wheel drive which REFUSED to let 8 cars past him with lights and foglights blaring, all redlining lol.
We stopped at wisemans ferry, took some photos and had another chat.
Then we got on the ferry.
On the other side we parked up for about 10 minutes to allow all the other people on the ferry to make their way. Soo that we wouldnt be sitting on their behind.
We then split into two groups, yellow swift, red xr4 and black fiesta set off first.
I was in the larger group (red sport, white xr4, black Rcolt, LR focus and my Polo) and we waited about another 10 minutes or soo.
The drive was absolutely mind blowing. The pace we were carrying was simply incredible.
The polo felt soo stable, safe and predictable at those speeds. Its handling was smooth and was very agile and accurate. Zero understeer and a bit of oversteer.
The suspension upgrades arnt all that noticeable in everyday driving. Its not untill you get upto high speeds that everything starts really working together.
I spent most of my time in 3rd 4th through the really twisty bits, rarely used 2nd as i find it causes too much wheel spin on corner exit. Use 3rd and let the torque pull you out.
The polo really did shine and as a performance hatchand in my honest (seriously...) opinion was the standout all rounder, which is to be expected as i have spent quite alot of money on it.
I was 3rd in the indian line while we were driving, soo we had to be mindfull of distances which need to be kept between each car. The sport and xr4 were first and second mainly because they knew the roads.
Im soo impressed with it, now i need to get on a track.
Now i know why some of you practically live at the track haha.
We then finished the twisty stuff and drove down into gosford.
Took some photos and had some lunch at La Porcetta (spelling?)
10/10... quality drive. quality cars and quality people.
