Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

thought I'd wait til the last minute and grab one of those formula ford drive days - prices were dropping and dropping......and then they all sold out on xmas eve. spewing! no pressie for me then. Instead I found a place up in the hunter that does rally driving in a worked datsun 1600 with the option of going to an evo or sti at the end of the day. I might jump at that. I've always wanted to drive a BDA escort on dirt though so i'll keep hunting for something like that. I wonder if that repco rally team that run the 9n3 polo do a rally drive school.

Actually, if you can, find a shorter one. This one is so long that it hits my knee when driving

Wonder if it'd work with dash command... it seems to be amongst the best.

Which adapter do you use Sean? The GoPoint BT1 looks ok and it's only $50 or so.

I don't have one yet, I'd researched them when deciding what lap timer to run, and gopoint was amongst the most recommended/supported. If I recall correctly it's also Apple supported, which meant better tech support for lap timers. Was going to run OBD, external GPS and Harry's lap timer. Decided to go a dedicated lap timer instead.

Though my house mate just got a $6 obd off ebay so will probably try that over the weekend.

My housemate bought the $6 bluetooth OBD, when we tried in my car the other night I didn't get boost or lambda (which are the 2 I only really want). He's since 'acquired' the complete Torque app though yet to re-try on a polo. But on his WRX it all works well. I'll try out Torque tonight and let you know. Gavin has an OBD thingy, wonder if he gets boost and lambda.

I did get boost and lambda on mine, i didn't trust the boost output though. The only part I really wanted to see was intake temps.
