  • Best Handling Mods

g'day everyone. what are everyones opinions about handling-oriented mods. which one's make the biggest improvements? and what order would you prefer to get them in? also take cost into consideration.
    eg.
    17s and 40 profile tyres
    suspension upgrades
    front/rear swaybars/strut bars

reason i ask is that i have heard a lot of people say the polo's handling could be vastly improved with 17s and 40s (like the xr4). and this would bring the handling up to xr4 level. whereas i would have thought spending the money on something else would yield better results?

personally i think rear sway bar would have to be on of the best bang for your buck handling mod.

I have 17s with 40s. Never driven a Polo hard without them. Then again, I've never really noticed what everyone complained about as 'bad handling'.

I have 17s and 40s, and drove the car without them for some time. Not a big factor in handling improvement, IMO -- you'll probably notice as much just in getting tyres with more sidewall stability over the OEM Contis in 16s.

As Shaneth says, rear sway bar is best bang for buck. Subsequently, I fitted Koni adjustable shocks, and more recently the Eibach Pro spring kit. The car is now a delight to drive (not that it was ever bad)
