[QUOTE=Bayan37;1098011]Thanks for all the help guys really appreciated. I do have a friend that can get me Bilstein's install for $1300 but was just seeing if there were any cheaper options that were reasonable say under the 1k mark? That will be able to handle reasonably and looks good don't want to go too low. So if anyone knows any other options that would be great!

Also how much did you want for your Weitec Hicon GT VW Polo 9N GTI PN 13280039???? whats your price range?

Hi Bayan37, $900 ono (plus postage to your location) , Cheers Al

I am interested in your coilovers brother but don't have the money at the moment as I just did a APR stage1 so I would have to wait a bit till I can afford your coilovers. If you don't sell them anytime soon let me know cause I am interested

      Thanks

Ok cool cool. Is there anywhere that you can purchase JOM or Fk's in Sydney or aus online?

lol, after all of this you're still considering the cheap stuff i.e., fk

Based on what has been said here and in other threads in this section there is no way I'd consider getting fks.

I think this may be one of those things that you get what you pay for.

Don't skimp on suspension. Take your time and save the cash if you have to. A few weeks/months of extra saving will save you years of driving around in a bumpy piece of junk.

I took a ride in the devil before Sean owned it and yeah the FK's felt ok.. but like Sean already pointed out, they're flogged out now. False economy.

I have KW's. They're good coil-overs for the price, but if I had the choice again I'd go Bilstein's every day of the week.
I would also advise against importing - sure, you save a couple of hundred dollars, but it is not worth it if anything goes wrong. I thought I'd roll the dice and import a set thinking "what are the chances I'll get a dud?" ..and I learnt my lesson. Those extra hundred dollars pay for themselves immediately if you get a dud strut like I did.

Thanks for the info really appreciated. By the looks of thinks people obviously sit on both side of the fence. But realistically forking out the extra money and getting a good set is always going to pay dividends. Its just burning me looking at my ride sitting at standard height. Bloody depressed me hahaha.

I was also thinking of a lowered spring and shock option does anyone have any info about that combo and how it goes up against coils?

                    Thanks again guys

A proper set of spring and shocks, costs the same as coilovers. Just be patient or sell a kidney until you can get want you want and do the job once.

The kidney option is looking like the way to go atm haha. Thanks for heads up looks like ill be saving for some proper coils cause Sydney roads are screwed probably end up loosing a coil in a pot hole if I go cheap.

                        Thanks,

I disagree to some extent. A GOOD set of springs and dampers will cost the same as an OK set of coilovers.

Agreed. Price up some Koni struts on a king, H&R or eibach spring. A bilstein strut will likely be marginally more. I bought my bilsteins locally, but the springs from europe if I recall correctly. My H&R coilovers were imported from Germany, I could buy them twice and still be better off from buying local. Not sure KYB or Monroe make a strut for the polo's.

If you ever want to increase power beyond standard, you'll be grateful for having spent the extra dollars. Irrespective of what you do, be aware that you may also need to replace strut tops and bearings (bank on $250) and also front end, but the rear lower control arm bushes. Can't recall the price. Do it once, do it right.

Rear LCA bushes from Super Pro are $150 plus fitting. SEAT bushes would be cheaper to buy. Same install costs.

Ok I see where your coming from guys. Install for springs or coils are free cause luckily I have some good friends. I have done the APR stage 1 so there is more power looking really to " close the gap" and a bit better handling have ordered a rear sway bar. Not looking to do track racing or anything just all street fun.

So now just trying to see the best option at a reasonable price for ride height. I mean you could go the way of getting cheap coils or a better strut and spring combo.

Or as everyone says do it once and do it right. Looking like sell the kidney for a good set of coils is what I'm getting from most people. haha
