  • Locked keys in the car.

    Hi Guys,

Opened the boot took some stuff out and left the keys in the boot when i closed it and the car has locked it self.

is there anyway to "break" into it to get the car to unlock? iv rang around different road side assists and they cant guarantee that they will be able to get it. the guy from AAMI said something about shorting it out and it resets the electronics? would that mess with my ecu and tune?

either way at this rate im looking at getting a quote for a window or hoping a lock smith can sort something out in the morning.

Easiest would be to break a front door window. Not all that expensive.

A locksmith may try and gently pry the top of the door frame out enough to run a length of wire into the car to hit the unlock button, or maybe snag the keys and pull them out through the gap.

I did that exact thing 18 months ago... NRMA tried for an hour with no success. I was able to jag the keys with a long wire through the 1" gap that i had left to let the hot air escape, that i usually do. Luckily back seats were folded flat!

Good luck! I found out on a separate occasion (break & enter) that a front side window (though not for an 8 year old Polo) is over $400...

            Tune will not be affected.

Never pop the boot on its own is the lesson here.

If you are in Adelaide 100% I can get you into your car with no damage.

I highly recommend not to get someone out who will butcher/ wedge your door as this can damage paint and door seals, also most of these cars deadlock so that won't get them in.

If you let me know where you live I most likely know a locksmith in the area who can get you in. It wont be cheap but still better than smashing a window or getting someone out to "Have a go"
