Have been quoted $390, $332 & $340 so where can I go to get it for a sensible price? Do I have to go to Ultratune or somewhere like that?

How can it cost $225? Was that through VW?

I paid $280 through VW and that was while supplying my own oil.

If you want cheaper mechanics, let us know where you live. If not using VW I would stick to a euro mechanic, but thats just me. If you live near Western Sydney then Seb at Girraween is your man. Don't have his details on me though.

no it was not through a stealership... was through a euro mechanic.

try essendon vw - shoudl be around the same price 10 mins from the city, may pay a little bit more but at least no hassles with warranty.. Also a carwash thrown in and free oil top ups if required anytime.

Ended up paying $363 which included $30 for a puncture repair. TIP: If your in Melbourne DO NOT use Werribee Volkswagen in Hoppers Crossing (spread the word), their service was absolutely appalling & they kept 'bullshi**ing me'

Sounds ok, I did get an overnight courtesy car (but they now charge $10 for it cos they reckon people were putting too many K's on them)

hey lads, is it just me or is is really weird that the first service isnt until 15,000kms?

most friends had a 1,000 service with any new cars for an oil change/general look over.

The japanese makes tend to have their 1000km service. As far as I know none of the euro makes have this.

Oh really? They just told me to fill it back up with diesel. I managed to do 70kays that day, and the needle never dropped from full. Ah...if only it didn't have that soundtrack of a truck, I think i'd be converted

Cant speak for all of em but.... Subaru (in 2003) offered an optional 1500k oil and filter change and general check over of the car. The service interval was 12500, but being a turbo they also suggested using a fuel additive at every service and half way between servicing.
Holden (in 2000) also offered an optional 1000-1500k oil and filter change and general check up. Service interval was 10000k.

VW dealers i have spoken to suggest the same thing at around 7500. but again is optional. Service interval being 15000
