2008 Polo GTI - front fender plastic?

Hi guys, I currently have a white Polo GTI done 600km as my curtesy car. It has 17" optional wheels and has some plastic thing slightly sticking out... - on both front fenders. Black from inner liner.

Is this new? What does it do?

I love the new car smell... and the gear shifting on it is so smooth... compared to my notchy one...

I'm pretty sure I have this. I think mine are on the back though, I'll look when I finish work. I think it's to protect the paintwork incase of rubbing.

I have this on the back wheel arch as well. As far as I know this is only from MY07 models onwards.

It was the only front on photo I had, and I didn't want to offend the good car *tounge firmly planted in cheek* by cropping in out

Have you had any snap oversteer moments in the good car? I had one infront of me at EC which decided to try and eat the wall at about 100.

HA HA YES!
Luckily it was at 1.30am and nobody else was on the road. Did close to a 360 through an intersection...(was only intending to turn right ) and ended up in the left lane of the street I was turning into facing the other way...parrallel with the footpath, staring at a fire hydrant! oops.
