Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      APR stage 2 is K04
CC stage 2 is desinged around a dump and FMIC. CC coding out the SAI is one of the reasons I went down that path, the APR option was too cost prohibitive.

Very happy with CC phase 2. Im near North Sydney if you wanted to see for yourself

Iv found that while driving my gears have become "sticky" no crunching and gears select fine. Will be changing the oil tomorrow and see I'd this fixes it. Also noticed some chattering when the clutch is not pushed in at idle from what I have read it's just because of a single pressure plate instead of the stock double and won't cause any damage? It's a ECS stage1clutch.

ECS can chatter, I wouldn't be concerned.

So i did the Gearbox Oil today and im glad i did it was BLACK and it STUNK! i couldnt source any Redline MTL from any shops in my area on a sunday so i went it Nulon + Shift additive. its due for a service in another 10k kms anyway so i will change it again then with some Redline and hopefully the Nulon i put in it will act as more of a "flush".

Few snaps i took while doing it.

Got my hands on some Redline MTL flushed out the nulon after 1000kms. after the first 100kms i really noticed the difference with redline.

Finally decided whether or not i wanted spring/shock combo or coils. I opted for H&R springs not sure what shocks im getting atm. reason i went that way is because i don't mind the ride being bumpy or a bit stiff, even if i got hassled by the cops, but the wife really didn't want it to bumpy and if she drives it I don't want her getting hassled + i called aami and they said it "may" void my policy having adjustable.

so i got some H&R Springs on order soon to decides on shock.
                ultra racing rear sway bar.
                new gearbox mount.

all should be here by mid September.

pretty set on getting a set of XXR530 17x7 +35 wheels. unless i find a set of Enkei RPF1's.

That's a very neat pod filter setup been thinking of making something like that myself even with the cover on do you still get more induction noise?

it made it slightly quieter but would rather avoid trouble if possible lol. cane still definitely hear the induction noise.

                        Neat looking Polo!
What size tyres did you end up going for the TT wheels and how much did they set you back?
Ive got some TT wheels that I restored and contemplating putting on but not sure about the comprise in ride comfort.

Any idea what the CEL on the dash is for?

i got 215 40 tyres, ill probably be flamed but they are just cheapies so i could get them onto the car and get them painted. you can feel the road slightly more over stock but definitely more grip and feels more stable.

the CEL is from p0411 SAI its been removed but i havnt gone to get it coded out. im use to it there now lol.

The other consideration is that the TT's rims are a heavy wheel. You may notice the increased weight over the lower profile. You could run a 45 series tyre too, it'll bring the speedo closer to accurate at 100kph and should be bang on at lower speeds. Just be mindful of your ride height if going 45 series, if lowered it may hit the underside of the inner guards. My track tyres are 215/45/17 and had to raise the front up a bit as to not touch under heavy compression.

I now run the TT rims as my daily's on the track car after using them as my track rim. Got the refurbed and looks brand new.

Yeh they are pretty heavy. My coilovers arnt in yet and was scared 45s would scrub in on hnr springs atm. Once i sort some "proper" tyres and get my coilovers in i will see how i want to go about it.
