I'm 22. Under 25s can only have 1 mod from AAMI.

NRMA just gave a quote online for $1,104.38.

Pretty happy with that, will try better it tomorrow from other people when they are open or sign straight up.

hehe, my FPV is insured for $65k, with 5 different mods listed, and the premium is $1400
Being in Perth, and an older fart helps too.

I just got a quote from Shannons for an S3 with lots of mods for $27k, and the premium is $950.

Sweet. Just Car was only $821 for the year telling them about everything (including suspension that hasn't even been done yet). Only $135 more than my AAMI policy.

I guess I'm not leaving AAMI haha.

just be aware, if you don't declare a mod, and try to make a claim afterwards, the insurance company will use this as a reason not to pay out.

so saving $100 now on a premium may end up costing you thousands later

I have the lowering listed on my policy, but otherwise it's stock... although the question remains, what is a mod? I had a long discussion with NRMA on the phone asking what does and doesn't need to be listed. For example, I have leather seats, although it's not factory original. I have VW alloy wheels, although they are off a Mk4, it has Hella fogs, which I don't believe ever came standard in Australia... And on the list goes.

Chances are if I ever needed to claim something it would pass since you'd have to know a good deal about my particular model to pick up on most of the subtle changes, but they are there and I don't know how much I trust the word of some random sales person I spoke to. Mind you the one thing I have gotten from a few of them now is that as long as it's legal it's ok. Don't really want to test that out, but I keep hearing it.

                G'day mate.

Just wondering if you happen to know if there's a web link to NRMA's policy on mods, as I haven't been able to find one? Failing that I can take my lazy behind into one of their csc's and ask for myself. Thinking about a remap for the polo.

I got a quote the other day, they don't seem to mind about mods. I'm 22, rating 1 and my quote was 1100ish with ECU, downpipe, suspension.

tosspot, make sure you get something in writing from them that they dont care about your mods, or at least that your declared mods are acceptable under the policy.
Insurance comapnies are happy to take yr premium off you, but might use the mods as an excuse not to pay out afterwards.....

I'm going with Just Car, they know it's modded, pushed my premium up a bit.

Just had that quote from NRMA, thought philthy might be interested in the info.

Yeah thanks mate. Have been with NRMA for a few yrs and am fairly happy with them.. I'm not planning to mod my car without sorting out insurance properly.

Mate, you just have to shop around...I pay $540 a year with TIO, and I have a driving record as long as my arm, but no loss of license , and I spoke to them today, and they said as long as is it dosn't make my car go faster, than my premium is unaffected.

you need to tell us what sort of car you have, what valuation, and if its modded. without that, telling us yr premium means nothing.

$1800 is a lot of premium though, sounds likeyou need a broker, or at least shop around as Blitzen said
