Any electrical whizzes here who've swapped instrument displays?

Hi all,

I was in a new Passat today (nice car, horridly low roofline for somebody tall though) and couldn't help but notice the beautifully legible red LED displays in the tacho and speedo (computer and odometer displays respectively.)

I'm just wondering if anybody knows if these displays would be swappable into a current Polo GTI (with crapola LCD displays) - this would be assuming they could be gotten hold of somehow without having to buy a whole instrument cluster, of course.

Hoping there's a budding Dr Frankenstein of car electronics who can please weigh in on this one!

lol hello there pogoam, had the same idea as well... i think its possible coz the local german guys can get their car with fully auto climate control and red digital read out between speedo & rev... but not too lucky for us... but may be get hold of a cluster from germany and bring it here??? lol
