  • Airtec Polo Intercooler Kit

    Hi Guys

Have been looking into getting a FMIC for my polo, Im leaning towards the SeatSport intercooler and piecing together the relevant pipework however I've come across this kit and think it looks the goods.

Auto Specialists - AIRTEC front mount intercooler conversion - Polo GTI & Ibiza Mk4 1.8 Turbo

From what i understand this kit is new to the market for the Polo, however Airtec seem to get rated rather well by the Ford Focus guys. The price comes in at around $880.00 AUD including shipping to Oz

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks
    Ben

Looks the goods. The main appeal of the seat cooler is that's it's been tested against numerous other coolers on the same dyno, same day (different cars) and provided a good balance between cooling and maintaining pressure. I believe that thread is a sticky if you haven't already come across it. I can speak highly of the seatsport as that's what I know. From a lot of track work, compared to stock my lap times were more consistent and top speed marginally higher, which I put down to heat management.

If the ford guys have done that research and provides results you're happy with, than go for it. From recollection I paid around mid $600 for the seatsport with appropriate fittings.

Basically looks like the same setup as the seatsport, uses the same mounts.

Darkside and THS also do their own version, same deal based on the seatsport but with bigger cores and welded end tanks.

I've got a darkside one along with a pipe kit from h100vw, no complaints from me. The darkside cooler and mounts were around 350gbp and the pipe work was a couple hundred IIRC.

I'll do just that. It's nice to know that its been done quite a few times before me. Pipework is sorted now too, i'll just have to get a map sensor pipe off H100VW
