Lowering the Polo GTI

hey guys,

im thinking about lowering the polo gti, what sussy setup are u guys running?
looking for a setup thats suitable for everyday driving + occasional track days.

- springs/coilovers?
- spring rates?
- how low?
- opinions on your suspension setup...
- brand?
- price tag?

- pics would also be awesome just to give me an idication of how low i should go as well.

I'm interested in this too, I've just enquired about the Eibach Pro-Kit. This only lowers it another inch or so. A few people have that, which means it's not really annoying on speedbumps etc.

KW suspension is a popular on this forum. I am also looking for suspension options at the moment, so far the KW Version 3 coilovers appeals to me the most. The only thing holding me back from going out and getting these tomorrow is that you cant lower car more than about 1 3/4' inches (one and three quater inches). I would have expected more from a height adjustable suspension.

The Eibach Pro-Kit... I'm pretty sure it's just a spring kit?

How much you pay for the H&R springs?

remember tho guys

you put in lowering springs with your stock shocks you will wear out the shocks and end its life very quickly!

if your gonna do a shock/spring combo your not far off a set of weitec v1s or kw v1's ..

Remember, the Polo is already lowered by around 25mm, relative to the standard Polo. An Eibach Pro or Koni Sports spring kit lowers this a further 15-20mm, and at that point, you are not far off the bump stops.

You can buy a Koni Sports kit, which comprises blue series lowered springs and Koni Yellow adjustable front and rear shocks -- which are designed to work together -- for around $1,400 + fitting

Polo GTI Weitec V1's are $1609. 5% discount for Forum Members.

Given the OP's question about doing occasional track days, I would suggest that fitting coilovers would be ok, provided they are both height and damper adjustable.

Unless you're competitive, then coilovers aren't really worth the asking price IMO. Most people have no idea on adjusting suspension settings and can get in a bit of trouble at speed in a corner.

I'd suggest some firmer, lowered springs. Use the saved money on brake pads, tyres and good quality brake fluid at a track day.

Yeah... that's why I am trying out the H&R springs first. If I am unhappy, I will probably get some Blistein shock absorbers later on. Only done 24000km on my original shocks, so hopefully it will last another 30000km or so.

I am going to my first track day in May, and getting things ready. Just like u said... EBC pads / new brake fluids / new engine oil and service / front sway bar upgrade / H&R springs / new gearbox oil / stainless braided brake lines / new alignment.

Really looking forward to the transformation.
