The good thing about it is that it's cheap and easy to put in and take out. I was thinking about getting one, but the leather looks crap and I wouldn't get cloth since I got leather seats etc.
I bought one off the same ebay seller some time back. It's downstairs in the garage repainted, and re-vinyled. In all honesty, it is pathetic. Thats why it is not in my Polo. Here's whats wrong with them...
1. Wrong colour match
2. Poor plastic parts, needing serious amounts of cleaning up
3. Requires you to put two screw holes into your carpet to secure it
4. No rear clips, means it tends to move a little bit when you put pressure on it
5. Last and most annoying - the plastic armrest CREAKS like mad as soon as any pressure hits it
Verdict, waste of money, and not worth the effort. The time you spent on this, I'm sure you could have asked someone to have custom made you a centre arm rest overlapping on the cup holders for less.
IF you want it, feel free to PM me and you can have mine cheap!
They sure do, as long as it's a 9N that has the dual drink holder and central handbrake centre console. That just pulls out, but you have to remove the metal clips from the factory one if you decide to install this dodgy armrest as they dont come with the metal clips (which you need two of at the front). Furthermore, to fit it properly, you'll need to trim down the inner section of it for it to fit snug, and remove all burrs where the armrest would go through before you install it (or you'll end up with a damaged handbrake lever). Also, if you do decide to repaint it, make sure that you have washed the surface with detergent, as the mold release agent seems to stick on certain patches of the plastic, which may cause problems for painting down the track.
look at the year model there mate... i don't think this is for our car. i know it says 2002 onwards but i'm not so sure. are the interiors identical from 2002.
Are they they same cheap, nasty ones as already discussed? Armrest would be good but if it's gonna be a nuisance then prob not worth the effort.. $12 for the item but $60 for shipping!?
I'd say it would have some form of hinge that allows you to pull the armrest up into a vertical position between the 2 front seats, which would free up access to the hand break.
Well that's been my experience in other cars with arm rests.
yeah you'll still be able to use the handbrake fine the arm rest just swings up, only thing for me is that the plastic doesn't match the rest of the interior
