Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SE QLD - Where to take the GTI for service?

Im on the sunshine coast & ive heard plenty of bad things about our local VW dealer so its not going there lol & after reading the forums the VW dealers seem hit & miss anyway.

Where does every 1 take their cars?

I saw some 1 on here has euro a service place in briz but it was late at night & many threads where looked over & now i cant remember who it was

Ive also have a modded awd 1988 ford laser tx3 & i do everything on that service, change motor, change gbox etc etc bla bla BUT for the 1st time id like to get it serviced & have some 1 that knows the polo's look over it for my peace of mind u know.

    cheers all

If you are talking about oil changes and the like. There's nothing exceptional about the Polo that you couldn't do at home.

I prefer to use German made filters. If you are going by Narangba, I can set you up with a couple.

LCA bushes are probably the most difficult thing you'll get into. Have a read of my Cheapy thread to see about them.

I have some poly dogbone mounts on the shelf too.

its had the lca bushes changed recently in a VW service i have the receipts from last owner & its got full logs books so as far as i can tell by driving it & having a look underneath on stands its got no issues but id still like some1 that knows polos to check it out u know. only so much i can tell in my garage with car stands & a jack as opposed to some1 with a hoist & has been workin on dubs for ages.

need to make sure its in 100% before i come see u for a tune gav or now i dont have to with that wire thing, all in good time anyway
