  • Solid Control Arm Bush Squeak

I replaced the control arm bushes on my car a few months ago, the car now squeaks, I believe the control arm is rubbing on the sold bush.

Camden GTI (Matt) doesn't have the tools and wanted me to buy the special tools so they could undertake the work which is pretty silly if you ask me.

Does anyone know a mechanic in Sydney that has the tools to press the mount in further? On a hoist, this job will only take 1 hour MAX.

I found the tool supplied last time didn't push the bush enough so maybe this time it would need a thick washer to push it in all the way? Do you know if anyone else had this problem??

I don't have it and a couple of others that have used it have been ok too.

One of the plates has a step in it maybe you used the other side and the bush is sat flush, not recessed?

Flick your address over again, I'll send it tomorrow.

              Hilal,

I used Gavins tool when I installed my offset super pro LCA bushes and had a similar drama. I found when using it that the main plate for the front of the bush didn't get the bush all the way in, as non-OEM bushes aren't as wide as the VAG ones.
From memory, to get the super pro right into the back of the console I had to reverse the back washer/plate so that its step wouldn't prevent the bush going all the way in, used one of the smaller washers (the stainless one I think) on the front as it will fit entirely within the console and put my own high tensile bolt through the lot. This was in the driveway in the pouring rain so I may have blocked some things out.
If you have the SEAT bush though maybe you just need to reverse the back washer so its locating lip wont stop the bush going in that last few mm.

Possible mix up here guys, if you are pressing out OEM , all good and pressing in POLY bushes all good with the threaded tool, SEAT bushes need to be hydraulic pressed in, these are solid rubber with Alloy outer casing ( the ones I sell) I do them off the car, NEVER had an issue. If the toiol is pressing in the Solid Seat bushes doesn't surprise me that they are harder to fit in place.
