Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Key

In the manual, it says the key is programmable to open the driver door with 1 click and then boot and passenger with the 2nd. I assume this means that you can have it open everything with just 1 click.

Does anyone know how to program it or is it a 'dealer does that' thing?

Can be done simply by recoding ecu via Vag Com mate no need to go to the dealer.

Mine as default does the one click drivers door, 2 clicks everything else. I thought that was how it was meant to come standard.

Next time you are getting a service, just mention it as they will probably plug the VAG unit in to check for fault codes and stuff anyway. Shouldnt cost you anything.

The manual says otherwise, but anyway... it's a pity service intervals are 15000kms

                  Mine doesn't beep at all

I want it to beep though. I guess it's another question to ask them.

I agree the "BEEP BEEP" is incredibly loud. I had mine turned off because it would wake the neighbours and also it made my dog run away haha.

It can be turned on or off through Vag-com/dealer/mechanic.

On the subject of "Key's" has anyone had one die? When I push the button it never unlocks or locks the car.

I've been swapping between keys every 3 or so months, never had a problem.

VAG com is a piece of software that uses a cable to plug into your VW. Can log faults, measurements and can also change things like double-press unlock, 15km/h lock.

one of my keys died a couple of months in, would lock but wouldnt unlock the car. Raised it with VW and they fixed it. Apparently it was a flat battery or something.

vag.com is the software that lets a mechanic plug a computer into the car and modify settings, look for problems etc. As most of the car is configured with software they can do a fair bit with it.
