hahaha, salesman just called again this morning.... I told him, why did you charged me (even though he gave it for free) for the floor mats, they're standard on the gti... (he was like oh really...didn't know that better ask my boss). so now i want another freebie from the dealer

anyway got a bad news, someone took my gti, so now i gotta wait 4 weeks..

whoa hang on but you put a deposit down? How much did you give? Even $100 should be enough to secure the car???

What have you heard about the adapter?

do a search on here, you have to have play lists set up and the skipping is screwy or something ... kinda forgot but i know it just put me off it when I read it, might not bother other people. Don't get me wrong it works fine just not with the functionality that i want.

Hi mate,

One of the things I had optioned when I got mine in January was the VW Ipod adapter. Silly me thought a fusion of VW engineering and Apple would be quality....

I can only say don't do it.

Reasoning

The Adapter sits in your glovebox, you can't have the ipod outside of the glovebox without having the glovebox open otherwise it crimps the lead (unbelievable but true)

When you plug your ipod in ALL functions become non operable, you can only change the track via the track forward and backward button on the stereo, its very inflexible and ruins it in my opinion.

The damn thing doesn't switch off when you turn off the ignition so you have to disconnect it and turn it off otherwise it sits there charging and draining your battery!

I wish I had saved the money and installed a different none VW one

I hope this helps you not make the same mistake, and it is a mistake. I'm very disappointed in it, although still use it to play my tunes.

he went to the manager and goes , we can't add them since its a factory option...

They are factory fitted and I really doubt that any VW dealer would have the necessary skills and experience to fit one. It is a very specialised job and I could just imagine the first year VW dealer's apprentice hacking into the roof of a nice new car.

You would have to go aftermarket, there are specialists that do this type of work. Google is your friend
