      • Sydney VW

        Hi Guys,

I'm in the market of getting myself a Golf GTi Automatic 5 doors (i'm sharing the car with my wife)

i went into VW Mascot in sydney today to test drive one and loved it!

So my quest has began to search for the best price.

The guy at VW mascot is the nicest sales person i have ever met but so far the price i was given is way over compared to some of the users getting on this forum

The price he quoted me for Golf GTi - white colour with all the standard for around $46k (if i'm not wrong but its around $40k - $46k)

Obviously thats 20k more than what you guys pay!

So if it is not too much trouble, could you please point me to the right place to get the Golf?

South Yarra in Melb seem to offer good price, so i may have to go down and buy one and drive back if i cant get the same deal in Sydney.

        Cheers
        BigMan

        • bigman - the reason why your price is 20k more is because we bought polo gti's not golfs.

golfs are more expensive for a reason, bigger car, bigger engine, better performance.

If your after a polo, i got mine for 28k in december - haggled him down from 31.5k. i thought that was pretty reasonable

                    • Look at one of the 2 Fiat cars with the T-Jet engine. Ritmo? They are under 30k I think.

                        They're also manual only, anyway.

                        Cheers!

i third this notion. it looks to be made of such cheap parts (well...it is suzuki) that are about to fall off all over the road. the car also looks out of proportion and does not appear to sit well on the road. throw a 1.6L N/A 4CYL in it (far from a 'sports' engine) and you have an underpowered japanese bodykit on wheels.

                              JUST MY TWO PSI !!

don't tell Mitch_GTI this....he used to work for suzuki and loves these things

                              • As a Suzuki Swift GTi owner from '89 (the original squairsh car - and loved it to bits), can I state that Suzies have a deserved reputation as been unbreakable, simple cars that are great value for money.

I drove the Sport when working out what to buy and will say it was dissapointing - it should have been a better car.

However it is not the worst thing on wheels.

If I didn't buy the Polo, Ralliart Colt would have been next. Compromised in some areas but fun - and handles better than the Polo.
