  • Rim Weight

    Hey All,

I dont have any access to scales myself so I was wondering if anyone has a rough idea as what each of the 16 inch GTI rims weigh?

Im trying to calculate the weight difference in regards to getting 17's.

    Cheers

hmmmmm. Really? I had no idea, I thought it was normal. Im dying to get 17's but I dont want to slow my car down too much so Im hesitant.

I got VW 17s on. I don't notice any difference from when I test drove it with the 16s. With bigger wheels comes lower tyres, which could account for some of the extra weight, I dunno?

Heavier 17" wheels make the car slower for sure...
                  06 Polo GTI - REVO Stage 2 = 140kw @ wheels.
06 Golf GTI - Bluefin Stage 1 blacked out with ED30 theme, leather, xenon, etc.

I realise that is definately the case but I want to minimise the effect as much as possible.

Just discovered mine, bearing in mind they are forged/spun and not cast:

                        BBS LM 19x8.5 = 9.8kg
                        BBS LM 19x10 = 11.4kg
