    Hi All

    Quick question, what is your experience with Forge DV vs Standard DV??

    From what I have read and heard the Forge 007 DV is vacuum and the standard is electric?

    I have the Forge and there seem to be a doughy spot in the rev range, just before the turbo spools hard.

    Meaning if you are trying to be good () and back off before the good stuff starts the car goes slightly boggy....

    Im thinking that the electric option may deal with the venting of excess boost better????

    I'm basing this on the last 7 years of driving a Nissan....

    Please let know what you have found.

    The DV on the MK5 is electric.

    I doubt that the DV is responsible for causing bogging down.

    Is your Polo tuned?

      Yes the car is tuned. It's not a major bog down..... Spoke to APR today and talked about a electronic DV. My understanding is the forge 007 is not electronic???

        The forge is full on mechanical. If you are running APR then talk to them again, they have the wrong end of a stick some how.

            I found the APR tune felt as if it softened over time. Try turning it off, drive for a bit to confirm, then flick it back on. Let us know if it feels any different.

            I found adding a little timing helped but moving to CC was best for my needs (after a long consideration about buying a second tune untested).

            Forge 007 is a good bit of kit, the N249 system can tinker with your boost, maybe read on bypassing it (very easy to try and revert if you don't notice an improvement).

            The direct replacement and stock DV's are vacuum activated, the spring is there to hold the system closed (and in some cases help with over boost I believe).

            I rum my 008 backwards, you could read on that, another option, something else you can try.

            It's a fun car to tinker with, in some ways I think the 6R boys are missing out, not a lot of tinkering you can do mechanically with them by comparison.

              If its a 9N Polo, then its a "mechanical" or "Vacuum" DV, If its a 6R Polo then its electriacaly driven (Solenoid).

              Never use a Forge DV to replace an Electrical version, we & our dealers have probably had to remove 60 or so. they cause plenty of driveability issues, especially on DSG cars.

              If its a 9N Polo, the Forge unit uses an aluminium piston (has mass) as opposed to the diaphragm version that VW supplies (Or the APR R1 with the Kevlar diaphragm) APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW and Porsche Vehicles.

              The alloy piston versions simply react slower than a diaphragm version, and it is noticable - plain & simple. Plus side is they never tear, but do require servicing.

              A simple test for your issue would be spending a couple of minutes to swap in the stock version & see what changes.
