Same thing happens with my Polo gti. After driving a while and turn the car off and turn it on shortly after temp is at zero and then goes back to normal after a few minutes of driving and I have a brand new temp sensor.

If you can't then no one will be able to haha!Originally posted by h100vw View PostCan't explain that.
It's a weird one because you would think a new temp sensor would solve it with the mentality that the old one obviously is detecting temperature incorrectly when its restarted, thinking it's cold when it's really at 90c. However your not the first person who has replaced the CTS and had the problem continue.Originally posted by ForceFed View PostSame thing happens with my Polo gti. Anyone else resolved the issue?Last edited by louis19; 01-10-2014, 11:21 AM.2006 GTI Polo - Big Turbo Build - Louis19's Build Thread

No, I haven't. Is this something beyond what a VAG scan can detect?Originally posted by rgvlee View PostTried to put an obd scanner on to see the temp reading as per the ecu? ECT is the obd code. To me that would rule out the temp sensor and push the issue back to the gauge itself.2006 GTI Polo - Big Turbo Build - Louis19's Build Thread

No, VCDS would trump a generic scanner on VWsOriginally posted by louis19 View PostNo, I haven't. Is this something beyond what a VAG scan can detect?

Ok thanks Gav, hopefully when I catch up with you the scan gives an indication what's happeningOriginally posted by h100vw View PostNo, VCDS would trump a generic scanner on VWs

I don't think that's it mate. Is it in a plastic pipe? That looks more like the VVT to me.

Yes, it is in a small plastic pipe. Do you know where I should be looking for the CTS?Originally posted by h100vw View PostI don't think that's it mate. Is it in a plastic pipe? That looks more like the VVT to me.

I'm wondering if mine is intermittently not working as today it worked after being warm once turned back on, then at other times again returned to 0..2006 GTI Polo - Big Turbo Build - Louis19's Build Thread

Update:
I replaced the coolant temp sensor on the weekend even though when Gav did a full scan on my car and tested the gauges to make sure everything was working correctly it all came back clear. It's really strange, if I turn the car off then back on straight away it will reset to 0 but if I come back after say a half hour or so, it will show the correct temperature. Anyone have any ideas? Starting to think it mist be an electrical problem somewhere along the line?
Any help appreciated!2006 GTI Polo - Big Turbo Build - Louis19's Build Thread

Anyone have any idea? Guessing it may need to go to an autoelectrition?Originally posted by louis19 View PostUpdate:

Temperature Sensor problem?
Don't have any ideas but my car is just started doing this too. What's really puzzling is an obd2 scan says the temp is normal (90 degc) when the gauge is reading zero. Gauge returns to normal after a few mins of driving

Must be a common Polo GTI thing as mine has just started this a few weeks ago, doesn't sound to be quite as bad as above but it will sit at about 70 degrees permanently, doesn't take long to get there but even after 6 hours of driving it won't spend much time at 90. I was convinced it was the CTS, will see if VCDS picks anything up. It probably should bother me more than it should, but it's been like this for a few weeks now haha.2019 132TSI Tiguan
