I had no issues using the one I have on my Polo and Anthonys too. Not sure we are talking about the same bush here as I can't see why it would be easier?Originally posted by kaanage View PostI remember Jimmy posting that he did ONE bush with the tool and has taken the control arm off ever since....
Looking for a picture in my thread.

You can borrow mine, as detailed in this thread. The only things you would need to buy iare the high tensile threaded rods/bolts and a couple of nuts (i.e. I will send you the spacers)

Edit: Found the one that I remembered!Originally posted by Jmac View PostI would hazard the rear of the control arm bushes. I did a set today and they were the worst ive seen, fully detached.
i have ordered a few sets and they will be here soon. Pm me for info
As for fitting you will need 12 new bolts, 2 control arm bolts, 4 steer rack bolts and 6 ball joint bolts, all torque to yield and need to be replaced, i change the bolts for less than $30 Well worth it as ive had one Gti lately with a loose control arm bolt. My opinion they are a must so please factor them in, if you are taking them some where to be done pm me for part numbers.
To answer the bush install, yes you really need a press. You can do it in place , first couple i did in place very difficult. Press them in for the win.
Originally posted by Jmac View PostThe Seat bushes are ally cased and the housing is ally as well and this is where it gets tight, and the originals are encased with plastic. Easy to remove in place, but tricky to fit in place, ive done a few now, i pulled them in with a void bush tool and geez it had to work hard. Next ones ill be pressing in, a fair bit easier pressing them in, for the DIY you i would think hard about it mate, but they do make a difference.
Cheers

Haha! thats one dodgy way to install bushes, you could have just used a longer bolt and fed it through the other side of the control arm to hold it in place.Originally posted by dubstar View PostYou can borrow mine, as detailed in this thread. The solid seat ones req the arms to be removed, the ones in question here are not rocket science to fitOriginally posted by kaanage View PostI remember Jimmy posting that he did ONE bush with the tool and has taken the control arm off ever since....Alba European

I seen this pic and realized that it looked so dodgy until I actually did the job this weekend and then realized it was the only way its going in.. what a pain in the ass of a job.. now i realize why Camden GTI didn't want to do the job. lazy pricks.. they even told me to buy the tool and they'd do it, haha what a joke..

Its not finished yet.. ran out of time, got both bushes in and 1 side is done, the other side is being a bitch and the arm doesn't want to go into the bush.. doesn't make it easy when its not going in straight!! might have to pull out the drill or file and shape it a little. hopefully ill finish it when i get home after workOriginally posted by dubstar View PostHaha. I'd say I told you so, but you'd probably hit me.
Doesn't it feel good now that its finished and you know you did it yourself?
