  • Torque Pro (or any basic ODD reader App)

Just recieved by cheap (<$15) bluetooth ODBII reader and bought the Torque Pro app (android).

At a quick glance it looks like it will be helpful for checking my new tune is not pushing anything out of the desired ranges.

I've not given it a full blat, but noticed the Boost reading is a negative (manifold value), not the atmostpheric pressure I'm used to seeing on VagCom (1000mb at idle). Would love to get it showing req and actual boost values, intake air volumes, temps (does that well already) and some other bits.

Before i dig, thought I'd ask on here as I know there are a few tinkerers who have tried it (coudn't see a thread on it)

Pretty cool app, good for the cheap spend.

Just add the second boost reading to the display - it shows PSI

APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst

Sorry mate, you'll have to move a little more slowly...

Second boost reading where? If you 'add a sensor', there are no 'boost' options. There is one that is 'tubro boost and vacuum gauge', which currently reads around -12 @ idle, so not the VagCom values I'm expecting (not 1 bar out either).

Also, its a different car, with different sensors, so it may use different measuring tools.

When I added a sensor there were two turbo boost options
The one I added showed PSI

I'll have to check when I get home

Where did you buy it btw?

And is there an apple equivalent that you know of?

ebay, android uses generic bluetooth comms, apple does it their own way (so they can charge licence fees). I believe there is a device / app, but less talked about (Dynolicious)

Curious to see how you go with this Ben. I bought the bluetooth adapter and torquepro.
I want to monitor my AFR etc while getting the tune sorted.
I haven't tried it yet as I am still waiting for my car to be finished.
I'd appreciated it if you could post up any setup tips.
              Cheers.

                yeah, no worries.

I got this one (select with bluetoot), its an ELM327 config (apparently). Works fine so far, mainly the app now.

So far, once in and device is paired, you can select it and usable modules are highlighted from the list of modules. RPM, Coolant temp, etc are all stanard and work well. Once I've got the boost sorted i'll do a mini-guide.

I'm waiting on support from the Dev in relation to the Boost readings which make no sense. Being able to look at various graphs, etc, is good, but its just another toy / tool to add to the arsenal rather than a device i'd leave connected / use daily (if it did log boost then I would use it often).

The data speeds are on par with Vag-Com, so pretty handy, but as I cant look at blocks like in Vag-Com, i cant really compare / see all I want.

Still, for $15, cool toy to have in the car and if something ever comes up, I should be able to see / clear the code on the spot (yet to throw a code to prove clearing them works).

Yes, for the info from the measuring blocks the Autopolar Fis Advanced is a much better option.
I have Torque Pro and have tried to read the overboost code that I detected with the VCDS and the Torque Pro didn't see the fault there.

Sorry to Polo owners due to hardware simplification it appears there's no connector for your Autopolar to plug into at this stage.

It's actually a TorqPro Add-In that reports boost PSI - the "Track Recorder" Add-In
When you record video, the data is saved as a video sub title, the boost is reported in PSI

The OBD data is also handy if doing track days and using a GPS laptimer off your phone as it'll overlay telemetry with video. I'm only familiar with the apple laptimers and the OBD hardware is much more than $15

i just jumped on the cheap ebay wifi adaptor and torque pro bandwagon
i gotta say its a fun little app and can monitor lots of little things.
not good tho when you almost rear end someone cause ur not lookn at the road.

so regarding PSI for turbo boost, what would be a normal level of boost for a stock chip stock turbo GTI?
