Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • KW V1's - Plan of attack

    Hey Guys,

Finally decided to take the plunge and get some KW V1 coilovers.
Is there still much money to be saved by buying them overseas, or should I just go 100% local?

I don't have the mechanical confidence to fit these myself, so if anyone has any recommendations on where to go in Sydney that would be much appreciated.

    Go local!

I bought my V1's overseas and I can't complain about the service or the cost, but to be completely honest it's not worth the savings if something does go wrong.. I have two groaning coil-overs that should be replaced.. but no way am I paying postage back and forth to the UK! Much easier to get sorted locally. Hit up Chris from TPR Engineering, he's a member on here.. he offered me a very competitive price but unfortunately I scrooged on that one and I'll never forget it. Lesson learnt.

Oh and there are a lot of companies that offer KW coilys in Aus but check they aren't grey imports, warranty gets messy again. I'm 99% sure Chris is a KW Australia dealer and they're backed by an Aussie warranty. No hassles

Check local prices for KW, would be about 1000 landed direct from UK.

Sure its not the top mounts Sam?

Yeah all new gear, I didn't have anything similar even with the old shagged top mounts. It's actually a pretty common thing after some research.. KW's and ST's in particular..
