    Hey Guys,

Have just bought a White Polo GTI so of course i've been busily researching modifications! One thing I've wondered is howcome no one seems to mention ATPs GT28RS kit:

its considerably cheaper than other options and looks to be the simplest too!

    Thoughts?

Might be due to a polo GTI with a Ko4 and a few mods struggles to get traction let alone a gt28rs.
Its not just the price of the turbo upgrade its upgrading everything eles suspension, brakes, drivetrain, LSD, FMIC, exhaust, intake.
This would all be needed to gain the most from the turbo.
Does this kit include softwear, injectors, FPR?
The price is cheap in US dollars and once you pay import duty and frieght would be getting up there in price.
The KO4 is a much simpler step not as many uprated componets required.
Plus there is strong support in Aus for companies like APR REVO and GIAC.
My thoughts right or wrong cheers Rob.

I agree completly. K04 IMO represents a lot more bang for your buck.

Yeah, I've been doing a lot of reading and the K04 is easily the simplest upgrade, but lots of us sites seem to pay it out as only adding 20-40hp headroom over the K03s. You can get a K04 pretty cheap from the us though

That said, what good is a GT2X, GT28RS etc if there is no software support?

Why arn't there any tuning shops that will do custom tunes like there are for Fords, Nissans etc?

There are a few APR does have a GT28RS tune and i am sure REVO and GIAC would have something too. But again you need to have all the support components in place.
Its big dollars no matter what you choose.
What do you want form your car?
Fast in a line, fast around a track?

I'd imagine ARP's GT28RS kit is for there stage 3 setup, which uses a custom manifold, afm etc etc, so it would only be applicable to their kit.

            Line. I love engines

Lol, I just get the feeling that the K04 will still feel a bit sedate I want the whole pushed back into my seat hard thing

Probably not going to happen for a while though!

Heheheh I haven't chipped it yet but I've pretty much decided on the APR tune based on the upgrade path avaliable. I wont be doing any hardware mods for a while as I figure I should keep it stock for a while at least

But the budget is there for when the time is right so

Yup its my first VW. My previous car was a '05 Ford Falcon BA ute. I basically got sick of driving round such a large vehicle, and I was pretty disappointed by the level of refinement offered by the factory lpg engine (it ran a bit like a diesel and it stalled sometimes). I've wanted a performance car for a while and was looking at nissans or v8s but I didn't want an older car or a rediculous fuel bill (really, pushing a 1800kg car around with a big v8 is just wasteful).

When I came across the GTI I was instantly in love. Its such a beautiful shape, it has a lovely interior and the engine has so much potential... I mean its got 20 valves!!! Kinda wish it was a bit revier but perhaps once i've paid off the loan and got another daily driver i'll be able to do some serious power mods to it

I'm from Melb - the knox area.

Heh, from what i've seen this forum has got quite a good community going - its great that we've got a car that has so much genuine tuning potential. I've been on the ford forums a bit and its actually quite depressing... sponsors etc are pushing products that have absolutely no performance value and fanbois are furthering the myth that they make a difference.

For instance, several companies have made clone 'brake upgrade packages' that use inferior quality rotors/pads etc or even entirely different calipers painted the same colour as the performance varients... its heart breaking!

Oh well, I'm in happy VW land now where we can get 40kw just from a tune, and genuine brembo brake packages can be had for $2500

Mine breaks traction in second quite easily (and gets a bit 'squirrely' from about 50kph thru 80kph) ... & I don't even have the KO4 upgrade.

I think if you want that much more power ... rather than spend 10s of thousands of bux upgrading U'r Pogo ... why not just get an R32 & put twin turbos on it?

                            Dave

I have the KO4/LSD/FMIC etc etc etc....plenty of "pushed back into my seat hard thing" , no more power required, unless you are after dyno numbers. My next most desirable mod I think would be a diff to the rear in an effort to get traction but I guess it would be cheaper to by an R32 and turbo that...hmmmm there is a thought.
